Rise of Ruxpin #3

Finally catching up on some Rise of Ruxpin. After almost a month of “marketing”, it felt great to sit down and do some coding again.

While playing Evoland 2 I found came across a great art style that may work for Rise of Ruxpin.  Previously I was worried about using pixel-art because it seemed very rigid, quite dissonant from the dreamworld setting. But, Evoland manages to come off as very soft, using very subtle shading on the edges compared to the black outlines I was using earlier.

Rise of Ruxpin also now has “Passives”. The code is pretty generic, so I should have a lot of fun coming up with different combinations of things. Deal bonus damage when the enemy is at full health. Earn mana when killing an enemy if you’re already below 25% mana. Have a chance to go into a rage each time an enemy hits you.

Hopefully by the end of the year a prototype will be ready to play.
