Whoosh! You are the Wind is actually happening. Over the last couple months I’ve been joined by a talented artist and musician who are helping make this a reality. Not long ago the game was like: But now it’s all like: And sounds like: Everything is still a work in progress of course, and we haven;t […]
Sky Wars: Archon Rises
Sky Wars: Archon Rises, is finally out on the app store. Not doing too shabby either. Watch out, Mavenfall, we’re coming for you! If you’re looking for the next Game of War, the next Stormfall, an MMO strategy game with an awesome dev-team, check it out and give us a review.
The Oft End of a Prototype
In the wake of Econia I wanted to quickly put out another political game. This is the result. Unfortunately the gameplay feels very similar to Flow Free (which you can play here) , but is not even as interesting. But, give it a play and let me know what you think.
Rise of Ruxpin #3
Finally catching up on some Rise of Ruxpin. After almost a month of “marketing”, it felt great to sit down and do some coding again. While playing Evoland 2 I found came across a great art style that may work for Rise of Ruxpin. Previously I was worried about using pixel-art because it seemed very […]
StandPoint. Strikes Back
Having your Kickstarter Campaign, the culmination of a year’s time and energy, your hopes and plans for the future, crash and burn like a pyromaniac kamikaze can be disheartening. But then maybe two of the most influential people in gaming culture play something you worked on a year ago and say “That’s a really good game. That […]
Econia: Strike One
One of the inspirations for Econia was this TED talk by Harvard Professor Lawrence Lessig. After seeing his presentation I started wondering how I could communicate these issues through games. A few days after launching the Econia kickstarter, Lessig ended his Presidential campaign. So, at least we’re in good company.
Econia #1: Clicking Like a Champ
Sometimes simply clicking something isn’t enough. Sometimes you need to click, double click, or click + hold! Here’s what we implemented when working on Econia. Link to the full source at the bottom. Generally, once a click begins we start a timer to check if the player holds for long enough (in which case he is “click + hold”-ing) […]
Rise of Ruxpin #2
There’s a bit of a paradox with indie game dev. On the one hand, art is one of the last things you want to tackle. Often at the beginning of a project things are still in flux, and it can be difficult to predict exactly what assets will be needed for the game. Any effort […]
Rise of the Ruxpin
Is Scott making an aRPG based on the Teddy Ruxpin franchise? Well no, as awesome as that would be. I’ve started yet another side-project, mainly so I can stay fresh with gamedev (and this blog) while getting everything ready for the forthcoming Econia Kickstarter. I’m working on an aRPG, like Diablo or Torchlight. I started […]
Stay the Course
Sometimes when I’m fighting off Chitauri soldiers with my bow and arrow, and then Iron Man flies by and takes out a whole battalion without breaking a sweat, I think, maybe I should go relax, have some tea, let the A-list handle the aliens. After all, what can I do that Hulk or Thor aren’t […]
